Accessory guide
Choose a spoon that works
An absinthe spoon is a small bridge: it must sit securely across the rim, support sugar if used, and let water pass without tipping or trapping residue.
Fit before ornament
Measure the glass rim and look for a spoon with enough flat bearing surface. A beautiful pattern is not useful if the handle makes the spoon unstable.
Perforation controls the flow
Openings should distribute water across the sugar rather than form one fast channel. Very shallow relief is easier to rinse; deep stamped details may collect sugar.
Material and care
Choose food-safe metal with a finish suited to repeated washing. Rinse soon after use, dry fully, and follow the maker's care instructions for plated or antique pieces.
Sugar remains optional
Taste the absinthe with water before sweetening. If sugar helps, use it deliberately and record the choice when comparing bottles.
